Kind of an interesting conundrum.ġ) If you were me and looking at this, which one would you prefer for astrophotography vs. all of the EF-S ones that came with these cameras). This would preclude the need to add a filter when switching to terrestrial photography after a mod (just switch the whole camera) thus not closing the door on the deep-set lenses that seem to be the most commonly available anyway (i.e. maybe I could get it too and go ahead and do an astro mod to one of them. But the deal is great and it got me thinking. Honestly, the specs of the T5i are so much better than anything I've ever used that I would be happy with either really had I not had the opportunity to make a choice. 24 megapixel and pixel size of 3.72µm on the T6i. Today I have an inside lead on a T5i, which IS compatible with Magic Lantern, but is 18 megapixel with pixel size of 4.3 µm vs. I had no intention of doing an astro mod to it and intended to just do the best that I could with it and have it available for terrestrial photography and video as well. Not a big deal to me since it's a very nice camera as-is in my opinion anyway. I am plenty happy with it other than the fact that Magic Lantern hasn't been made compatible with it. I got a good deal on a T6i a couple weeks ago to use for AP.
